`Christmas is a pain in the arse`-The story

December 2002 was a month which was anything but a `pain in the arse` for the west country based band the Accelerators.   Not known outside their local stomping ground, this was the month when the boys managed to receive airplay with their self written, self recorded, self produced, cheeky song `Christmas is a pain in the Arse`, on no-less than the BBC Radio`s Two`s Johnnie Walker show !!!

After the song had been played there was complete chaos !   The band received numerous telephone calls and emails asking where the song could be obtained.  The amount of interest and the shock of it being played on national radio, completely took the band by surprise.  They had only produced about 10 copies for themselves and a few friends. Due to the fact that people listen to the BBC on the internet, the song had been heard in many different countries and the band received enquiries from Canada, Holland and Australia as well as from the UK.

The band was particularly amused when on the BBC website, listeners were asked to list their top three Christmas singles of all time. Out of the first five replies, `Christmas is a pain in the arse` was listed by 3 people !!!

Another memorable email was from a vicar who said that he was responsible for 5 churches and that Christmas for him was `a pain in the arse`!! He was promised a copy on release.

Even top TV soap Emmerdale featured the song on Christmas Day 2003. Not only that but Emmerdale played the second track from the single entitled `Together we feel good`, in their show on 23rd December.

Whilst the song got played on numerous radio stations throughout the country, some radio stations still refused to play it because of the word `arse` !!!!

Nevertheless you may have heard it on Beat FM [Scotland], GWR [West Country], Stone FM [Stoke], Red Dragon [South Wales], Chiltern FM [Herts Beds and Bucks], Swindon FM, Bath FM, Star FM, Peninsula [Cornwall], Gemini FM [Devon], BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Two, Swindon Town Football ground, Southampton FC radio and even BFPO Bosnia !!!

In total we reckon around 20-25 million have now heard it !
